[Report Description]

Traditional aggregometer work on the principle of light transmission. The traditional aggregometer performs light transmission aggregometry (LTA) which was once considered as the gold standard for platelet function testing and is still used for the identification and diagnosis of platelet function defects. Traditional LTA remains the most useful technique for diagnosing a wide variety of platelet defects. Additionally, LTA requires a large sample volume, is time-consuming, and there are many pre-analytical and analytical variables that affect the LTA results. These shortcomings in traditional aggregometry spurred the development and advancement of aggregometry techniques which is widely being adopted in the current market. The platelet function analyzers (PFA) are the result of such developments. The platelet function tests performed through a PFA are automated, rapid and mimics several characteristics of physiologic platelet function, because it is a high shear system. Hence, the advancements in aggregometry are improving the adoption rate of these devices and in turn helping in the market growth.

Key Market Trends

Hospital Segment is Expected to Dominate the Market in the Forecast Years

Based on end user, the market is segmented into hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and others. The factors attributing to the dominance of this segment are a larger patient pool, availability of skilled technicians, and enhanced healthcare infrastructure across the globe. The rise in patient pool, due to substantial growth in the population suffering from diseases, such as bleeding disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and arthritis, is expected to enhance revenue generations of the hospitals. Furthermore, several benefits offered by hospitals in conducting platelet aggregation testing procedures, the high accessibility, and affordability of hospitals are expected to attract a large patient population. Hence, these factors are expected to fuel market growth in the forecast period.

North America holds the Largest Share in the Platelet Aggregation Devices Market

The North America region holds the largest market share due to strong presence of device manufacturers, large patient population for target diseases, growing number of surgical procedures, and rising awareness among healthcare professionals regarding the benefits offered by platelet aggregation testing in disease diagnosis. Additionally, factors like large number of patients undergoing cardiovascular surgeries, and increasing prevalence of orthopedic, urological, and bleeding disorders is expected to sustain the market leader status of North America supported by high growth rate.
